Kids Dig at the Anglo-Norman Town Walls, Trim

The Black Friary situated in the Anglo-Norman town of Trim, County Meath, Ireland has been under excavation since 2010. The friary was in use from the late 13th to the mid-16th centuries. Archaeologists have been uncovering the remains of this prestigious Dominican friary, exploring the buildings, the monastic gardens and the people who were buried there.

The Anglo-Norman town wall defences lie at the perimeter of the Black Friary monastic site in Trim, County Meath, Ireland.

This event is a mock dig for children interested in archaeology where they get a chance to uncover the medieval town wall and artefacts from this time. Children are given small tools and work in a trench with the archaeologists learning about excavation.
