What is Millenium?
Millenium is a European cultural project led by the Normandy Region to celebrate the thousandth anniversary of the birth of William the Conqueror in 2027. Throughout the year, a varied programme of events: shows, exhibitions, concerts… To invite as many people as possible to (re)discover the Norman heritage in Normandy and across Europe.
Why is 2027 an important date in Normandy?
In 2027, it will have been a thousand years since William the Conqueror was born in Falaise, Normandy. This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate a historical heritage that goes beyond Norman borders: Normandy, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Channel Islands, Flanders, Norway, Denmark and six regions of southern Italy all share a common history with the Normans.
