The region is leading the initiative
In 2027, Normandy launches MILLENIUM: a major cultural and tourism adventure on a European scale, not to be missed.
One thousand years ago, William the Conqueror was born in Falaise, in Normandy. In 2027, the goal is not only to celebrate this historic anniversary… but to bring all of Europe together around a shared heritage.
A European project co‑created since 2022
Since 2022, the Normandy Region has developed partnerships with several European territories that share a common history and heritage:
- The United Kingdom and Ireland
- The Channel Islands
- Flanders, Norway and Denmark
- The six regions of Southern Italy: Apulia, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise and Sicily.
Together, cultural, academic, tourism and political institutions have carried out major co‑construction work to make 2027 a year of celebrations and the starting point of long‑term cooperation.
What we want is to use this anniversary year as an opportunity to build, together with our partners, an event that resonates not only in Normandy but across all of Europe. Hervé Morin, President of the Normandy region
An exceptional large‑scale programme: what to see and do in 2027?
Throughout 2027, MILLENIUM invites you to (re)discover the great Norman epics through a rich and varied programme:
- Theatrical creations and live performances
- Concerts and music events
- Exhibitions and heritage tours
- Sports and culinary events
- Unique tourism experiences in Normandy and across Europe
Thanks to unprecedented collaborations between European cultural organisations, these events will travel from one country to another, offering original and collectively designed experiences.
In 2027, Normandy and its European partners invite you to experience a shared story, to discover what connects us through the centuries, and to take part in a programme of exceptional scope.
