Our Norman Stories

Galway County, community‑led bilingual project for 2027

Galway County Heritage Office and the Galway Community Archaeology Project collaborate with heritage groups and schools to identify and interpret Norman and Anglo-Norman sites and traditions across County Galway.

The project produces an interactive ArcGIS StoryMap that brings together local interpretations, photographs, and community stories. A transportable community exhibition launches and then travels across the county, reaching a wide range of audiences.

A companion e-book presents local research, images, and stories in both Irish and English, ensuring accessibility and highlighting the region’s rich bilingual heritage.
