The Norman castles in Apulia

Over the course of around forty photos that alternate between expansive views of millennial castles and details that could be illuminations, photographer Nicola Amato takes us on a powerful journey through time that also opens up to the landscapes between sea and mountains of this splendid region of Puglia.

His photos also remind us how, a thousand years ago, the Normans had a significant impact throughout the corners of the European continent, bringing with them their culture, their taste for war, and the finesse of the artists who accompanied them.
