Athenry Walled Towns Day

Athenry Walled Towns Day - Celebrating the Year of the Normans 

Galway County Council in partnership with Athenry Heritage Centre is promoting National Walled Towns 2027 - Year of the Normans with a programme of events which includes children’s theatre show, medieval battle re-enactments, children's medieval crafts, mini excavations, talks, puppet shows, walking tours and medieval craft displays. The primary location for the event will be Athenry Park and the Athenry Heritage Centre. Two walking tours will also take place around the town given by an experienced tour guide.
