Baginbun Norman Festival
A Norman Themed day at Fethard Castle

The Baginbun Norman Festival celebrates the arrival of the Normans in Ireland in 1170, a pivotal moment in the country’s history. Held each year at Fethard Castle, the festival brings this important chapter of the past to life through a lively and engaging programme.

Visitors experience Norman reenactments, archery displays by the Dunbrody Archers, medieval games and live music, creating a vibrant atmosphere for all ages. The event attracts the local community, heritage groups, history enthusiasts and families with an interest in Norman heritage.

The phrase “At the creek of Baginbun, Ireland was lost and won” remains closely associated with the area, recalling the decisive Norman victory over local forces at Baginbun in 1170.
