from 22 July 2027
to 23 July 2027
Nocturnal Visit
This semi-nocturnal visit offers a discovery of Caen during the time of William the Conqueror and his wife Matilda. Through the historic center, it traces the history of the ducal couple and the impact they left on the city in the 11th century.
The route highlights the major monuments associated with their reign, including Caen Castle, the Abbey of Men, and the Abbey of Women (exterior visits), while evoking the development of the city and its role within medieval Normandy.
Guided by Estelle Isidor-Leroux, a tour guide, member of the Federation of Guides of Normandy, and passionate about medieval history, this walk combines heritage, architecture, and historical narratives. For the occasion, the guide dons her medieval attire.
