The Bayeux Tapestry revisited by contemporary artisans

The Carré Saint-Cyr, a gallery of crafts, invites artisans to reinterpret the Bayeux Tapestry, creating a dialogue between contemporary creation and historical memory. It thus contributes to the enhancement of artisanal crafts and the recognition of exceptional know-how that defines its identity.

The exhibition offers a sensitive and technical reinterpretation of this emblematic work. It highlights the diversity of traditional crafts and creative approaches within contemporary artisanal art: textiles, ceramics, metal, glass, wood, illumination, and engraving.

This project combines the transmission of a collective memory with support for current creation.
