Deeds and Misdeeds
Ireland and the Norman World

The ‘Deeds and Misdeeds’ exhibition bring together archaeological objects with contemporary charters and manuscripts to illustrate Ireland’s complex interactions with the Norman world.

The exhibition is the result of collaboration between the National Museum of Ireland and the National Library of Ireland.

Newly discovered objects, including the Caherduggan horse harness and the Ferns “knight tile”, feature alongside charters from the invasion period and an illustrated copy of Gerald of Wales’ Topographia Hibernica, a famous account of the 12th-century conquest of Ireland.

Videos and interactive displays allow visitors to explore this fascinating and sometimes controversial chapter of Irish history in greater depth.
