The siege of the castle in 1053 by Duke William against his uncle William of Talou

The association "Let's Save the Castle of Arques" offers, in August, an exceptional opening of the castle accompanied by eight guided tours. Organized in groups of a maximum of fifteen people, they allow for a better understanding of the strategic role and importance of this stronghold during the time of William, Duke of Normandy.

These two days are dedicated to food in the Middle Ages and the customs of the table. Through a dedicated presentation, they cover culinary practices, beverages, consumption habits, as well as the differences between the diet of the common people and that of the elites.

Stands and interpretation panels complement the tour and provide insight into medieval products, recipes, customs, and table arts. This theme allows for the discovery of an essential aspect of daily life during the ducal era, linked to the history of the castle and its occupants.
