Medieval lights on the Roman Theatre of Lillebonne

from 03 April 2027

to 14 November 2027

End of the shows - from Late Antiquity to the Early Middle Ages.

This project is organized around an exhibition offering a fresh perspective on the site.

While the construction period and its use as a venue for performances are the subject of numerous studies, the evolution of the theater from the end of the 3rd century is less emphasized. At that time, the building transforms into a bastion, initiating the creation of a larger castrum, which welcomes the installation of the Normans several decades later.

This theme is developed in collaboration with the Friends of the Lillebonne Castle association, committed to the preservation and promotion of the medieval castle, closely linked to the history of William and his visits to Lillebonne.

The exhibition unfolds in the form of panels installed in the theater and is accessible within the site’s admission fee.
This arrangement is accompanied by immersive visits, activities aimed at school groups, and a nighttime performance.

Practical information:
Open to all
Admission fee: Entry to the site is €3 full price | many free entry conditions | Immersive visits at €6/person full price. Night performance is free.
