The Cotentin revives the epic of William the Conqueror with the Duke's Rides, an event that combines heritage, living history, and itinerancy.

On July 23, Valognes transforms into a ducal city and welcomes reenactors, horsemen, and history enthusiasts in a festive atmosphere filled with activities, demonstrations, music, and historical discoveries. Participants from France and several European countries take part in this adventure inspired by the 10th century universe.

On July 24, horsemen and walkers take the paths of the Clos du Cotentin and the Val de Saire to reach Barfleur, the former port of the Dukes of Normandy. On a route of approximately 35 kilometers, the ride traverses the hedged landscapes of Cotentin and several emblematic sites of Norman medieval heritage. Stops punctuate the itinerary and offer moments of discovery dedicated to the history and wealth of the territory.

This participatory and intergenerational event, the Duke's Rides highlight the Norman heritage through a collective experience that combines hiking, historical reenactment, and heritage promotion. This gathering celebrates a shared history while showcasing the cultural and landscape diversity of Cotentin.
