The Cotentin brings to life the epic journey of William the Conqueror with the Duke's Rides, an event that combines heritage, living history, and itinerancy.

On July 23, Valognes transforms into a ducal city and welcomes reenactors, riders, and history enthusiasts in a festive atmosphere filled with animations, demonstrations, music, and historical discoveries. Participants from France and several European countries join this adventure inspired by the world of the 10th century.

On July 24, riders and walkers will take the roads of Clos du Cotentin and Val de Saire to reach Barfleur, the former port of the Dukes of Normandy. Along a route of about 35 kilometers, the ride crosses the hedged landscapes of Cotentin and several emblematic sites of Norman medieval heritage. Stops punctuate the itinerary and offer moments of discovery dedicated to the history and riches of the region.

This participatory and intergenerational event, the Duke's Rides highlight the Norman heritage through a collective experience that combines hiking, historical reenactment, and heritage promotion. This meeting celebrates a shared history while shining a light on the cultural and landscape diversity of Cotentin.
