Sports relay of the Knights of Tancred

16 May 2027

Sports relay on the trails of the Norman Knights

This sports relay connects several major sites of Norman heritage and follows the tracks of figures who marked the history of Normandy in the 11th century. From the sons of Tancred of Hauteville to William the Conqueror, this adventure recalls the spirit of conquest that led the Normans far beyond their homeland and helped to permanently transform medieval Europe.

Starting from the Abbey of Ladies in Caen, the route passes through Hauteville-la-Guichard, the birthplace of the Hauteville family, before reaching Mont-Saint-Michel. This exceptional itinerary traverses emblematic landscapes and historically significant locations that bear witness to Norman heritage.

Castles, cathedrals, abbeys, and major heritage sites punctuate the route: Caen, Bayeux, Coutances, Pirou, and Mont-Saint-Michel. Each stage combines a sporting challenge with historical discovery, reviving an epic whose traces remain inscribed in the stones and landscapes.

Executed in the form of a relay, this challenge brings together athletes and riders who traverse the route for two weeks until their arrival at Mont-Saint-Michel. A collective adventure that celebrates the boldness, endurance, and heritage of the Normans through the places that shaped their legend.
