The Tales of Twilight
from 27 July 2027
to 28 July 2027
Norman Legends
With "The Tales of Dusk," a trio of artists — two actors and a musician — offers a literary ceremony dedicated to legends, both well-known and more obscure, of the Norman heritage. They bring to life a whole procession of characters and ghosts that share their stories.
Legendary tales play an essential role in the historical and identity formation of a region, as they are rooted in supposedly real events. Their protagonists are identified, and their geographical and historical setting closely ties them to local life. Although transformed and enriched by oral transmission, these stories retain their primary purpose: to be passed on and shared. They thus contribute to forging an emotional link with the territory.
Emerging from a keen observation of the places they evoke, legends give meaning to landscapes, whether natural or shaped by man. They explain, in rational or symbolic terms, phenomena, reliefs, place names, or the origin of certain sites. In the absence of this explanation, they gradually fade away, leaving only names whose meanings are lost.
They also serve as valuable keys for understanding a territory, its forms, its light, and its atmospheres. Even today, along roads and in the heart of cities, legends continue to be born and circulate. Contemporary tales, rumors, and urban legends extend this tradition and are part of a living transmission, destined to last.
with Fabrice Hervé, Bernard Ariu (accordionist), and Jean Charles Le Noël
