During the summer of 2027, the art center and art library of the Dominican Sisters presents "Traces, Resonances of Norman Heritage."

"Traces" takes the form of a large contemporary art exhibition in the art center as well as outside its walls throughout the city of Pont-l’Évêque, aiming to explore the testimonies left by the Norman people over a millennium across various territories.

The project offers an artistic reflection on the notion of trace, understood as the imprint left by the passage of an individual, a group, or a civilization. In the context of Millenium, this approach finds its full meaning: it is precisely these traces—architectural, votive, artistic, or landscape—that allow us to reconstruct and imagine the plural history of the Normans through the centuries.

Rather than seeking to freeze an "official" history of the Normans, the project opts for a sensitive and contemporary pathway. It highlights the multiplicity of Norman realities that have succeeded each other over a millennium, each with its own codes, rites, traditions, and forms.

At a time when historical narratives are being questioned, contemporary art allows for the opening of new spaces for interpretation, updating relics, and renewing our perspective on Norman heritage.
