Concert of the Aïgal Ensemble

Six trobaïritz – the feminine form of the word troubadour in the Occitan language – give voice to stories that intersect, respond, and blend into a collective expression.
Through the combination of monodic plainchant, ancient polyphonies, and contemporary creations, the Aïgal ensemble offers a sensitive interpretation of the Middle Ages, highlighting the memory, creation, and transmission carried by female voices.

At the heart of this program is the Chanson de Guillaume d’Aquitaine by Philippe Hersant, a work that weaves a subtle dialogue between medieval heritage and contemporary musical writing.
The stories are transmitted, transformed, and reborn through a perpetual cycle, where past and present intertwine. Accompanied by the nyckelharpa, a traditional Swedish bowed string instrument, this a cappella musical performance blends song and poetry into an experience that is both immersive and evocative.

Prior to the performance, introductory workshops on the nyckelharpa allow participants to explore the sounds and characteristics of this emblematic instrument of Swedish musical tradition.
