From Vikings to Normans
Destination Viking Association Study Trip

A large gathering bringing together over 60 heritage professionals from 16 European countries, in Ireland in 2027, through the Destination Viking Association (DVA), a Council of Europe cultural network that connects destinations with shared Viking heritage.

The study trip will include a strong Norman dimension, highlighting how Norman and Viking histories intersect in Ireland and across Europe.

The programme will connect major and regional sites in Dublin, Waterford and Kerry through guided visits, workshops and networking sessions focused on interpretation, visitor experience, heritage tourism and education.
In conjunction with the study trip, participants will also engage with Irish museums taking part in the 2027 Year of the Normans celebrations, including Kerry County Museum and Waterford Treasures, and will attend the launch of Dublinia’s Norman-themed temporary exhibition.

This integrated programme will strengthen European cooperation, raise the international profile of Irish Norman heritage, and create lasting professional relationships across the DVA network.
