Barfleur, the former port of the dukes of Normandy, transforms over several days into a vast historical village dedicated to William the Conqueror. Between heritage, culture, and maritime traditions, the event highlights the history that shapes the Cotentin and the connections that unite Normandy with the territories of the Norman space.

At the heart of the event, an important historical reenactment camp brings to life the daily lives of men and women from the Middle Ages through the presence of French and European associations, artisans, horsemen, and historical ships. Shows, workshops, demonstrations, and activities punctuate the program and recreate the world of the dukes of Normandy. The port of Barfleur, associated with the departure of the Mora, also hosts a large maritime festival featuring old sailing ships, sea shanties, and nautical activities.

The Village of Duke William also showcases the skills and riches of the region through the Salon of Cotentin Excellence, which brings together producers, artisans, and guests from England, Ireland, and the Channel Islands. Traditional Norman games and sports, tastings, meetings, and discoveries complete this program dedicated to the transmission of heritage and cultures.

A highlight of the European Year of the Normans, the Village of Duke William brings the Norman epic to life in one of the most emblematic ports of its history and emphasizes the major role of Barfleur in the maritime and cultural heritage of Normandy.
