On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the castle of Guillaume-le-Conquérant offers an exploration dedicated to tapestry and contemporary creation, in connection with the artistic commission entrusted by the Normandy Region to Hélène Delprat as part of Millenium and her installation in Falaise.

Without presenting the work itself, this program highlights the stakes of this project and the dialogue it establishes with the monument, its history, and the figure of Guillaume the Conqueror.

Mediation sessions allow for an exploration of the history of tapestry, its techniques, its role in the transmission of narratives, and its place in European art.

This tour also sheds light on how contemporary creation engages with heritage to propose new readings of the past. At the intersection of the Middle Ages and contemporary art, this approach around textiles prepares for the arrival of this major commission and underscores the links between memory, transmission, and creation.
