On the occasion of the Millennium, this visit to the collections traces the destiny of the Duke of Normandy and the profound transformations brought about by his conquest of England.
The journey revisits the major steps of his rise, from the Battle of Hastings to the establishment of a new power across the Channel. It also highlights the strategic role of the Counts of Boulogne, major players in Franco-English relations. At the head of a powerful county, they strengthen their influence by allying alternately with French or English sovereigns, as per the political balances of their time.
