1066 Why Did It Matter?
A talk by Marc Morris

Join author of "The Norman Conquest" and broadcaster of BBC series "The Castle" Marc Morris for a fascinating discussion on the importance of 1066 at Pevensey Castle.

Pevensey Castle is significant to England's history, as it was where William the Conqueror landed to begin his invasion of England in 1066. He built his fortress within the the existing Roman walls, many of which still stand to full height today. After centuries of abandonment, the ancient stronghold was pressed back into service in 1940, with machine gun posts cleverly camouflaged into its walls.

After the talk, explore the castle and discover more about its history through displays.
