The Bayeux Tapestry at North Lincolnshire Museum

As the Bayeux Tapestry makes its historic journey to the United Kingdom for an exceptional display at the British Museum, North Lincolnshire Museum invites visitors to explore its story through a special accompanying exhibition.

Through a range of specially commissioned interpretive displays and audio-visual materials provided by the British Museum, visitors will be able to experience a unique introduction to the story and significance of the Bayeux Tapestry in North Lincolnshire.

The exhibition also explores the history of North Lincolnshire at the time of the Norman Conquest. Drawing on archaeological evidence from the local area, it offers fresh insight into the profound changes that shaped the region during this pivotal period.

This project is part of “Bayeux Around Britain”, a national programme coordinated by the British Museum across the United Kingdom to accompany its major Bayeux Tapestry exhibition. This programme connects museums and communities across the country, bringing the story of the Tapestry to wider audiences through locally rooted experiences.
