In the footsteps of Renart the cunning fox and Tibert the cat

As part of the event "The Tale of Renart: a Norman itinerary," a cycling tour is offered to explore, in a concrete way, the territories mentioned in the Tale of Renart. Starting from the Maison de la Forêt, the route crosses the Cerisy forest before opening up to a varied landscape rich in a still unknown heritage.

The route leads to the discovery of rural Romanesque churches, a medieval bridge-mill, and the site of the Molay castle, placing the literary narrative within a precise geographical and historical context. The hike thus highlights the connections between the forest environment, feudal society, and power spaces, in the heart of an ancient forest of the Dukes of Normandy.

The route is accompanied by a leaflet included in the hiking topo-sheets provided by the Isigny-Omaha Intercom Tourist Office.

Practical information: cycling tour of about 30 km, for a day. Picnic to be prepared.

Partnerships: Maison de la recherche en sciences humaines de Caen (MRSH) and Isigny-Omaha Intercom
