Cancel Bertha.

12 November 2026

From the company Carte Blanche

CANCEL BERTHA explores the relationships between movement, silence, and music, creating a unique sensory experience.
When the audience enters the performance space, it is impossible not to notice the painted floor: a tartan carpet, a photorealistic dog depicted in perspective, an image that is both familiar and strange. But this floor is much more than just a decorative element. For the dancers, it also serves as a choreographic score: a surface to traverse and a reference point to measure against.

The set designer Joris van Oosterwijk developed this idea from several sources: the notebooks of Jan Martens, his choreographic concepts, as well as the archetypes referenced in the song Tonight by Sibylle Baier.
