Monumental Projections

The Cathedral of Light is the must-see summer event in Rouen.
Anticipated by locals and praised by tourists, the sound and light shows are projected on the façade of the Rouen Cathedral from May 28 to September 25, 2027. 
For this 15th edition specifically designed for the Millennium, the Rouen Normandy Metropolis presents the shows Viking and Proud & Conquerors.

Viking evokes the Scandinavian invasions in Normandy in the 9th century, from 841, the date of the first Viking incursion into the Seine Valley (the burning of Rouen and the sack of Jumièges), to 911, the year of the Treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte between Rollo and Charles the Simple. Blending historical facts, enchanting images, and spectacular effects, this monumental projection offers a unique and striking encounter with the men from the north and also revisits the various representations, imagined or mythologized, of the Northmen.

In Proud & Conquerors, a comet tears through the sky, approaches the earth ... a divine sign or a portent of an extraordinary event? 1026... a baby is born. His mother saw him in a dream; he will be a "Conqueror"! This child is William, the illegitimate son of Robert the Magnificent, Duke of Normandy. Faced with his many enemies, he must reclaim his duchy at the point of a sword. Betrayals, plots, and battles will shape his character. A political finisher, a shrewd strategist, and a feared warrior, he challenges fate and embarks on another adventure, wild and outrageous: crossing the Channel and conquering England. This show recounts the fabulous epic, the historical context, and the courage of a man who allowed the Duchy of Normandy to become, in its time, the most powerful and modern of European states...
