Digital Exhibition

The Château Guillaume le Conquérant and the Falaise Patrimoine association are designing a digital exhibition dedicated to the memory of William the Conqueror in Falaise.

Presented as an approximately ten-minute audiovisual projection in the Saint-Nicolas hall, this free creation traces how the city maintains and evolves the memory of its iconic figure from the mid-19th century to today.

Using archives, photographs, and testimonies, the film highlights the diversity of transmission forms: commemorations, monuments, popular festivals, cultural projects, and heritage promotion activities. It shows the evolution of the perception of William the Conqueror and how this memory is integrated into local life.

This device thus offers a clear and contemporary reading of the role of this historical figure in the construction of Falaise's identity while underscoring the close links between the city, its castle, and a heritage that remains alive.
