Concert of the Three Nations

from 29 October 2027

to 30 October 2027

Bayeux, Dorchester and Lübbecke unite to sing Normandy

On the occasion of two exceptional concerts, the Orphéon de Bayeux is partnering with the Dorchester Choral Society (England) and the Kantorei St Andreas de Lübbecke (Germany), two longtime twin cities of Bayeux.

Gathered for the event, 120 singers perform a program of religious works by Gounod, Handel, and Buxtehude, accompanied by the organ.

On the sidelines of these concerts, a men's choir from the three nations presents an interpretation of the Song of the Normans at the Battle of Hastings.

This work celebrates the epic of William the Conqueror. It was composed by Julien Travers, a notable native of Falaise, set to music by Daniel-François-Esprit Auber, born in Caen in 1782, on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the battle.

The audience can also discover an exhibition dedicated to the history of the creation of this work.
