Concert of the Three Nations

from 30 October 2027

to 31 October 2027

Bayeux, Dorchester, and Lübbecke unite to sing Normandy

On the occasion of two exceptional concerts, the Orphéon de Bayeux collaborates with the Dorchester Choral Society (England) and the Kantorei St Andreas de Lübbecke (Germany), two cities long twinned with Bayeux.

Gathered for the event, 120 singers perform a program of religious works by Gounod, Handel, and Buxtehude, accompanied on the organ.

In addition to these concerts, a men's choir uniting the three nations offers an interpretation of the Song of the Normans at the Battle of Hastings. This work celebrates the epic of William the Conqueror. It is composed by Julien Travers, a distinguished native of Falaise, to music by Daniel-François-Esprit Auber, born in Caen in 1782, on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the battle.

The public can also discover an exhibition dedicated to the history of the creation of this work.
