Contemporary headdress sculptures for a medieval banquet

“Entremets et merveilles – Contemporary headdress sculptures for a medieval banquet” invites participants to experience a unique collective moment at the crossroads of history and contemporary creation.

The Community of Communes of Pays du Neubourg offers the public the chance to take part in a participatory project imagined by the artists of La Grande Échelle.

Inspired by the spectacular banquets of the Middle Ages, this initiative reinterprets the festive and symbolic universe of the great medieval tables. Residents and visitors create astonishing headdress-sculptures inspired by a fantastic and gourmet bestiary: hybrid animals, chimeric creatures, generous fruits, and poetic trophies take shape throughout the workshops.

- On April 10 and 11, 2027, accompanied by the artists, participants will discover different manufacturing techniques and bring their creations to life. Open to everyone aged 8 and up, these workshops blend heritage, imagination, and contemporary artistic practices in an accessible and friendly approach.

- On June 26, 2027, all the headdress-sculptures will be integrated into a collective staging during a big festive day, organized around a reimagined medieval banquet, where the creations come fully to life.
