Dieppe derives its name from the English word "deep," referring to a port capable of accommodating ships with a deep draft. After his conquest of England in 1066, William the Conqueror relied on this port to structure cross-Channel links. The project "Dieppe: Normandy at English Time" is rooted in this heritage and in the desire of cultural stakeholders in the region to highlight the historical ties between Normandy and the United Kingdom. While these exchanges continue on a daily basis, the year 2027, marked by the Year of the Normans, provides a favorable framework for the implementation of this initiative. For one weekend, the city hosts a program featuring shows, concerts, sports events, and culinary discoveries. British and Norman artists share the stage, while the common history and the Dieppe heritage are brought to light. In preparation, actions are taken with social centers in the Dieppe neighborhoods. These lead to the creation of furniture and signage tools made from recovered materials, in the colors of Normandy and the United Kingdom. These projects also serve as a medium for passing on the shared history, particularly of the figure of William the Conqueror, to younger generations. Practical information: Open to all. Contact. Cooperation France / United Kingdom. Partnerships: La Machine, Les Saltimbanques de l'Impossible, Deep Town collective, Maison Jacques Prévert, Oxygène, La Maison des Jeunes, CARPANORAMA...
