The Conquest of Italy and Sicily by the Normans

At Château de Pirou, this short documentary film invites young audiences to discover in a lively and accessible way the story told by the famous Pirou Tapestry. Through animated images, historical characters, and a narration tailored for children, the film traces the birth of Normandy before following the epic journey of the Normans.

Young viewers thus discover how they left Normandy to join Southern Italy, where they gradually established themselves thanks to their military talents and organizational skills. The narrative continues until the beginnings of the conquest of Sicily.

Designed as a true historical journey, this film allows viewers to understand the major milestones of Norman history while highlighting the stories and heritage represented by the Pirou Tapestry.

Integrated into the visitor experience, it enriches the discovery of the artwork by offering a complementary approach that is both educational and immersive. It facilitates the understanding of the scenes, characters, and events depicted, creating a direct link between the filmed narrative and the tapestry.
