Embruns de Musique Festival

from 17 July 2027

to 18 July 2027

1000 years of music in Normandy

The 2027 program highlights England and the Norman heritage.

True to its diversity, it explores a wide musical panorama, from medieval music to baroque, classical, traditional, and contemporary music. Through these different repertoires, a thousand years of history unfold in music, in a constant dialogue with Norman culture and an attentive approach to historical contexts.

This edition brings together artists and ensembles from various backgrounds. The Girton College Cambridge University Choir joins La Tempesta ensemble for a program dedicated to the figure of Shakespeare, including John Linley's Ode to Shakespeare. An evening showcasing the colors of the North is entrusted to the Gadhus Morua Ensemble, a traditional Icelandic music group whose warm and festive universe invites to travel.
The baritone Marc Mauillon, a major reference in the French musical scene, shares his passion for medieval repertoire through a program evoking the music that accompanied the era of William the Conqueror.

Transmission also plays an essential role with two productions uniting young performers: Purcell's King Arthur, performed by students from the Conservatory with Regional Influence of Angers, and Benjamin Britten's Noah's Ark, interpreted by students from two schools in Bayeux.

Between promoting the territory and opening up to the world, the festival affirms its local anchorage while developing cooperation on a national, European, and international scale, notably with England and Iceland.
