Embruns Music Festival

from 23 July 2027

to 24 July 2027

1000 years of music in Normandy

The 2027 program highlights England and the Norman heritage.

Faithful to its diversity, it explores a wide musical panorama, from medieval music to baroque, classical, traditional, and contemporary music. Through these different repertoires, a thousand years of history are outlined in music, in constant dialogue with Norman culture and with an attentive approach to historical contexts.

This edition brings together artists and ensembles from varied backgrounds. The university choir of Girton College, Cambridge joins the La Tempesta ensemble for a program dedicated to the figure of Shakespeare, including the Ode to Shakespeare by John Linley. An evening in the colors of the North is entrusted to the Gadhus Morua Ensemble, a formation of traditional Icelandic music whose warm and festive universe invites one to travel.
The baritone Marc Mauillon, a major reference in the French musical scene, shares his passion for medieval repertoire through a program evoking the music that accompanied the time of William the Conqueror.

Transmission also occupies an essential place with two productions bringing together young performers: King Arthur by Purcell, performed by students of the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional d’Angers, and The Noah's Ark by Benjamin Britten, performed by students from two schools in Bayeux.

Between the enhancement of the territory and openness to the world, the festival affirms its local anchorage while developing cooperation on a national, European, and international scale, particularly with England and Iceland.
