Emma, embroidered memory

from 17 April 2027

to 11 September 2027

A participatory embroidery highlights the figure of Emma of Normandy, who has long remained in the background of historical narratives. Her name and silhouette embroidered form the central point of a fabric that is both narrative and symbolic. Around this figure unfolds a genealogical tree embroidered in the background, designed as a mapping of ties, alliances, and circulations. The setup invites the public to inscribe names and extend this network of affiliations, transforming the work into an evolving composition. Through a simple gesture — naming, situating, connecting — the whole contributes to the construction of a shared collective memory. Embroidery conceived by the embroidery artist Audrey Demarre.
