Emma of Normandy, northern wedding
from 01 October 2027
to 02 October 2027
Act 2
Emma of Normandy, Northern Wedding is the second part of the trilogy dedicated to Emma of Normandy, a major historical figure.
Emma of Normandy, The First Crown, the first act plunged the audience into the political intrigues of the 11th century. While England is shaken by Danish invasions, Emma, a young Norman princess, sees her life turned upside down. Married to Æthelred the Unready, she becomes queen consort and must navigate the complex alliances and ruthless rivalries tearing the kingdom apart. Blending history and fiction, this play explores the torments of a woman trapped by events, confronted with both the violence of men and the limits imposed on her power.
This year 2027 provides the opportunity to perform both episodes independently or in a single evening.
The second act, Emma of Normandy, Northern Wedding focuses on a period of exceptional density: four years during which four kings succeed each other on the throne of England. From Sven's death to Aethelred's return, to Edmond's struggle and Knut's final victory, the narrative explores the rapid shifts in power. Emma leads her destiny with singular determination, navigating between the statuses of exiled queen, restored, and then once again crowned at the cost of a strategic alliance with the Danish conqueror.
