When Fashion is Repurposed

On Saturday, October 9, 2027, at the Abbey of Graville, a special evening will take place during which the Atelier de la Matière presents the fruit of a year of work carried out with the city's residents and local fashion schools.

- From 4 PM to 7 PM, the exhibition "Through the Threads of Know-How" features photographs, videos, fashion drawings, and textile research, showcasing participatory work and the various stages of the creative process.

- From 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM, the fashion show "Tribute to Mathilde of Flanders" highlights a collection inspired by Norman textile art around the year 1027 and the figure of Mathilde of Flanders, wife of William the Conqueror. The evening continues with a friendly aperitif.

The collection is designed from offcuts of linen sourced from the local textile industry and repurposed fabrics, in a process that values raw materials that are often overlooked.

- From September to June 2027, participatory workshops introducing hand embroidery are organized every Tuesday from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Val Soleil. These practice sessions allow for the creation of motifs inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry and Norman iconography, with the guidance of qualified instructors. The completed embroideries are incorporated into pieces of the collection.

Practical Information:

Access to the exhibition and fashion show is paid: €5 per person

Participatory embroidery workshops are free and open to all.
