When Fashion is Reused

On Saturday, October 9, 2027, at the Abbey of Graville, a special evening will take place during which the Workshop of Material presents the result of a year of work carried out with the residents of the city and local fashion schools.

- From 4 PM to 7 PM, the exhibition "Through the Craftsmanship" features photographs, videos, fashion drawings, and textile research, showcasing the participatory work and the various stages of the creative process.

- From 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM, the fashion show "Tribute to Matilda of Flanders" highlights a collection inspired by Norman textile art around the year 1027 and the figure of Matilda of Flanders, wife of William the Conqueror. The evening continues with a friendly aperitif.

The collection is designed using linen scraps from the local textile sector and reused fabrics, aiming to enhance raw materials that are often undervalued.

- From September to June 2027, participatory workshops for beginners in hand embroidery are organized every Tuesday from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Val Soleil. These practice sessions allow participants to create patterns inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry and Norman iconography, with the support of qualified facilitators. The embroideries created are integrated into the pieces of the collection.

Practical information: Access to the exhibition and the fashion show is paid (price: €5 per person). The participatory embroidery workshops are free and open to everyone.
