The Feast of St Germain of Auxerre

Ringing a full peal to mark the feast of the Abbey's patron saint

Selby Abbey will celebrate the European Year of the Normans, its historic links with France and the feast day of its patron saint, Germain of Auxerre, with an attempt at ringing a full peal on the Abbey’s twelve bells. If successful, the peal will ring out across the whole town for more than three hours, making this a rare occasion to experience a sound not heard since the coronation of King Charles III.

Taking place as part of the National Lottery Heritage Fund project Selby Abbey: The Origin Stories.
