Visits to the Gardens of the Château de Gaillon
On the occasion of the national event Rendez-vous aux jardins, the Château de Gaillon opens its doors for a series of thematic guided tours.
More than just a simple walk, these exclusive routes offer a captivating immersion into the history and transformations of the gardens. It is also a unique opportunity to discover behind the scenes: how to reconcile today the rehabilitation of an exceptional heritage with the fierce preservation of its biodiversity?
To explore all facets of the Château de Gaillon, the visits are structured around three themes:
- A Journey Through Time: A narrated discovery of the successive transformations of the estate. From the enclosed gardens of the medieval period, to the sumptuous ornamental gardens, stages for diplomatic representation during the Renaissance, to the nourishing and hunting spaces, and up to the astonishing structural transformations of the prison period.
- The Refuge of Biodiversity: Observation of the unsuspected ecological richness of the park and an overview of the local wildlife, particularly highlighting our protected species — such as discreet bats, majestic falconids, or fragile amphibians — as well as the concrete actions taken daily to preserve their natural habitats.
- The Gardens of Tomorrow: Discovering the sustainable landscape management approach, which seeks the perfect and harmonious balance between respect for the historical monument and ecological resilience.
An event open to all, history enthusiasts, nature lovers, or simply curious to discover the future of a major historical site.
Practical Information:
Open to the public
Admission Fee: Up to €8
