The glorious and ridiculous saga of the Rogers.

from 19 June 2027

to 20 June 2027

A grand historical fresco deflated by ridicule...

The starting point is historical: in the 11th century, a few Norman barons, led by the Rogers, conquer Sicily.
However, the spectacle strays from these established figures to follow their demoted cousins, the Rogers. Burlesque and fragile, they navigate the border between small and big history, in an uncertain epic, real or invented.

The form is rooted in popular theater, mobile and physical, blending staging, clownish language, and fragments of circus. History is crafted with precarious means: foam swords, inflatable globes, unreadable maps, incomprehensible languages. Power wavers, alliances slip, and the conquerors stumble.
The clowns lead the story. Would-be kings, always in excess, they multiply failures and overflow. Their bodies display failure and ridicule but also reveal a form of stubbornness and grace. The circus — loose wire, precarious balances, hesitant lifts — becomes the unstable ground of a conquest always threatened by collapse.

At the heart of this disorder, powerful female figures emerge, such as Judith of Évreux, Adelaide, or Constance of Hauteville. Long relegated outside the narrative, they assert themselves as queens, strategists, translators. Their voices transform the narration, disrupt its order, and redraw its memory. Their presence structures the whole, like a thread stretched over the void.

A historical farce in twelve episodes, marked by just as many falls and beginnings.
