On the Trail of William the Conqueror
The Friends of the Chapel of Sainte-Anne propose to honor Normandy by organizing a discovery walk that combines the history of William the Conqueror with local products and historical heritage.
Around the chapel, a true gem of the 11th century fully restored in 2025, visitors will discover the legend of its construction linked to Countess Lescline, William's great-aunt, while tasting typically Norman and English products.
During this walk of about 3 km, they will enjoy taste stops during which a historian will discuss the life of William. Norman products such as cider, apple juice, cheeses, tripe, apple, and andouille or teurgoule will be featured, as well as English products like scones, apple pie, and crumble.
Upon arrival at the chapel, the group will be welcomed by the Falaisian theater company La Lanterne, which will offer a performance about the life of Countess Lesceline and William returning from battle in Normandy.
They will also be able to enjoy a local market and Norman dining on site. The evening will conclude with a concert of folk and Celtic music.
The return to the starting point will be by horse-drawn carriage or on foot for the more adventurous.
