Plastic Arts Workshops with Illustrator Elise Kastelan

From the fleet of the 32 ships represented on the Bayeux Tapestry to contemporary maritime practices, Normandy asserts itself as a land of navigation. In this context, a series of youth workshops in the media library and an exhibition project at the museum explore the figure of the boat through its forms, uses, and evolutions.
Inspired by ten centuries of Norman history, this work leads to the creation of a chronological picture book of boats made by children, offering an accessible and sensitive reading of maritime heritage.

The project relies on the involvement of Élise Kastelan, graphic designer and illustrator. Trained in illustration and editorial design at the École supérieure d'art d'Épinal, then in graphic design at ÉESAB in Rennes, she develops an approach that combines visual creation and transmission.
