La Tapisserie: A historical play inspired by events of 1066
March 24 2027 from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM
La Tapisserie transports audiences to 11th-century England, just after the Norman Conquest of 1066…
In the treacherous political world of the Norman Court, three Saxon seamstresses use skill and subterfuge to record the Conquest of 1066. Their work becomes the Bayeux Tapestry.
Queen Edith, Lady Cynewyn, and Ælfgyva shape a narrative in direct opposition to their Norman overlords, at great risk to themselves.
With themes of power, conquest, sexual politics, truth versus propaganda and the resilience of the conquered, this play explores how history is shaped, manipulated and preserved — and who ultimately controls the narrative.
Still up for debate – was it subterfuge or submission? You be the judge.
A thrilling tale of courage amidst greed and brutality, La Tapisserie is for audiences interested in historical drama, political intrigue and powerful female roles. For fans of prestige historical storytelling such as Wolf Hall, The Crown and Game of Thrones, as well as theatre audiences drawn to stories of power, resistance and the shaping of history.
