Summer Programming at the Château Guillaume-le-Conquérant

Every summer, the courtyard of the Château Guillaume-le-Conquérant comes alive and offers an engaging plunge into the Middle Ages. From July 6 to August 18, the Medieval Wednesdays highlight the daily lives of men and women of the era through a lively program of demonstrations, participatory workshops, and meetings with history enthusiasts.

Throughout the weeks, various medieval practices are revealed: ancient know-how, handling of objects inspired by the time, and exchanges with specialists. This immersive approach allows for a concrete and playful exploration of history, prioritizing experimentation and discovery.

Additionally, guided tours of the dungeons are offered every day during the summer (for an extra fee). Led by a mediator from the château, they recount the history of the monument, showcase its Anglo-Norman architecture, and evoke the fate of William the Conqueror, born in Falaise around 1027. These tours provide a privileged insight into the strategic and symbolic role of this major fortress in the history of Normandy and medieval Europe.
