Millennium Music Workshops Internship

from 18 June 2027

to 19 June 2027

Medieval Music in the Time of William the Conqueror

A workshop dedicated to the music of the time of William the Conqueror, led by Valérie Nunes Le Page, offers an immersion into medieval repertoires.

Learning is based on orality, imitation, and gesture, while also addressing the fundamentals of medieval notation and historical references. Music from this period is known through various sources: texts, iconography, and pieces preserved in numerous manuscripts.

The workshop is aimed at both beginners and experienced singers and instrumentalists. The former discover the repertoires through an accessible approach, while the latter deepen their manuscript reading and interpretation of ancient notations. Instrumentalists explore the music of the 12th and 13th centuries.

The program includes four half-day workshops, the last of which takes place in Rouen. The schedule runs from Thursday at 7:30 PM, with an opening concert in Dieppe, until Saturday at 8:57 PM, corresponding to the departure of trains from Rouen station to Paris or Dieppe.

The number of participants is limited to ten. Participation on a flexible basis is possible.
Audio materials are provided to facilitate access to the content, especially for visually impaired individuals or those who do not master reading notation.
