Exhibition

The history of the Normans is to be (re)discovered at the prestigious Abbaye aux Dames in Caen, an emblematic site of Normandy associated with Matilda of Flanders and William the Conqueror.

The exhibition traces the fate of the men and women who shaped Normandy in the Middle Ages, from the origins of the duchy in 911 to its incorporation into the kingdom of France in 1204. From the Anglo-Saxon world to the Mediterranean, the Normans expanded their influence and fostered the emergence of new forms of art and culture.

This exceptional medieval heritage continues today to make Normandy shine in Europe.
