The Normans in Sicily

An Epic Sung
The Choir of Ouistreham proposes an artistic project dedicated to a little-known page of Norman history: the epic of the Normans in the Mediterranean and their reign in Sicily in the 12th century.
Through the figure of the Hautevilles, pioneers of intercultural dialogue in Europe, this creation invites us to rediscover a history whose echoes remain relevant today. To accompany this exploration, the choir is engaged in a collective writing process: an original narrative will punctuate the concerts and guide the listening experience.
The project takes the form of a narrative and musical concert, shining a light on the local historical heritage. It combines ancient Norman songs, music, and texts telling the story of Roger II, performed by 80 amateur choristers from the Choir of Ouistreham, accompanied by two professional musicians.
