The Fécamp Photographic Encounters assert themselves as an artistic meeting that transforms the city into an open-air gallery. After a first edition marked by the presentation of nearly 200 images and the involvement of photographers as well as local youth, the event is now set in a biennial format. The 2027 edition takes place in a dual context of celebration: the bicentennial of the invention of photography and the Millennium. It proposes to explore the historical and maritime ties between Normandy and Europe through a visual journey rooted in Norman heritage. The theme "Conquer or be conquered" guides the artistic projects, inviting reflection on the dynamics of tension, transformation, and the circulation of influences, in both historical and contemporary readings. This edition is based on an expanded call for photographers, artistic residencies, educational actions, and moments of exchange with the public. It highlights demanding photography, whether documentary or experimental, and is open to the diversity of visual writings.
